I always have travel on my mind. Even after returning back from a long trip, I cannot help to start thinking and daydreaming about where we can go to next. I have a serious case of the travel bug.
Sometimes it is hard to not fall in a rut after returning back, or daydreaming of “where to next?” I have found that to beat the travel blues from when returning back from a trip; I look at my own area as an adventure of new discoveries. San Francisco down to Silicon Valley and the areas around it is a treasure trove filled with fun and excitement. Okay, so, I may be lucky to live in the San Francisco Bay Area and have many areas, activities, and restaurants at my disposal to explore. Whether you live in a metropolitan area or a small town, play tourist.
So much of what we do not like about coming home from traveling is the routine that awaits us. Try to avoid falling into old ruts by eating at a new restaurant, going out with friends that one has not seen in a while, or visit a museum. If one makes an effort to see ones city the way an out-of-town guest might, one might discover that everyday life can have the excitement a trip does. A great site that I personally use and love to discover new experiences and fun, unique activities is sōsh.
Think about what is usually done on vacation, and weave some of that into your plans for the next few months: Go sightseeing; see a show; have drinks in a fancy hotel bar.
A few of my favorite things around me are local outings like Pescadero, dinner cruise on the bay, exploring the Ferry Building, wineries in Napa and Sonoma, a drive down Highway 1 and a stop by Carmel-by-the-Sea to satisfy my own travel bug. Sometimes I like to just get lost in San Francisco or Palo Alto (I will have to write a post on Palo Alto soon!). I am always surprised of the new things I find.
What are some fun things around you?
